State Senator Sylvia Garcia Receives Teamsters Support In Bid For Congress

Teamsters Local 988 Believes Garcia Will Be Voice of the People, Fight for Quality Jobs

HOUSTON, Nov. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Teamsters Local 988 is proud to endorse Texas State Senator Sylvia Garcia for Congress. Garcia announced on November 14 that she would run for Congress in Texas Congressional District 29 for the seat that will be vacated by Gene Green, the incumbent not seeking reelection.

Teamsters Local 988 believes we need to elect someone who has a clear vision in mind, but more importantly, someone with the experience and the fortitude to stand up and fight for what our communities truly need. Sylvia Garcia is actively engaged in the community and in listening to their concerns and priorities. Garcia will not just be a vote, but a voice of the people she represents.

The Teamsters have long called for the "Let's Get America Working" campaign in Washington, D.C., and Sylvia Garcia will fight for quality jobs.

Local 988 endorses Garcia as the most qualified candidate and fully supports her as a champion for workers' rights, working families, quality education for all Texas children, access to quality health care for all and immigration reform. We need a champion for the people who will work day and night to stand in Washington and fight for what really matters.

Local 988 is one of the largest Teamster local unions in Texas with over 7,000 members and actively growing. Local 988 represents members in bakery, car rental, construction, convention centers, dairy, freight, grocery, industrial trades, laundry and linen, movies, packages, solid waste, tankhaul, trade shows, passenger transportation and warehouse industries.
