MELVILLE, N.Y., May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Leviton Manufacturing Company, North America's leading producer of electrical and electronic wiring devices and the leading manufacturer of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs), is pleased to announce that on April 27, 2012, the International Trade Commission (ITC) issued a general exclusion order, "prohibiting the unlicensed importation of infringing ground fault circuit interrupters and products containing same." In addition, the ITC issued several cease and desist orders prohibiting the sale of GFCIs already in the United States that unlawfully infringe Leviton U.S. Patent No. 7,737,809.
"The finding of a violation of Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 (35 U.S.C. section 1337) by all respondents in the case and the remedy ordered by the ITC is a recognition of Leviton's position as a leader in the innovation of GFCIs," said Meir Blonder, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, Leviton Manufacturing Company.
