The James M. Cox, Jr. Foundation Celebrates Black History Month With $50,000 Gift to Urban League of Greater Atlanta
ATLANTA, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of National Black History Month, Cox Enterprises announced today a $50,000 gift to the Urban League of Greater Atlanta from The James M. Cox, Jr. Foundation. The gift supports the Urban League of Greater Atlanta's Family Empowerment Program.
"This gift from the James M. Cox, Jr. Foundation helps our programs that strengthen and empower families in Atlanta," said the Urban League of Greater Atlanta's President and CEO Nancy Flake Johnson. "Cox and its associated entities have been tremendous partners to our organization and are known throughout the area for celebrating diversity."
The James M. Cox Foundation previously contributed $1 million to help secure the Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Collection (King Papers) and pledged $500,000 to National Center for Civil & Human Rights.
"Atlanta is a city rich in history, and we believe the Urban League of Greater Atlanta contributes to the city's ongoing legacy of embracing diversity," said Jim Kennedy, chairman of Cox Enterprises.
