Racer Andy Lee Sweeps Pirelli World Challenge Races at the Cadillac V-Series Challenge in the Best IT/Crown7 Chevrolet Camaro
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- This weekend brought two back-to-back victories for Pirelli World Challenge GTS driver Andy Lee. Lee took to the track at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, racing in the double-header, including Rounds 6 & 7 at the Cadillac V-Series Challenge at Belle Isle.
"What a sensational weekend for our Best IT/Crown7 Chevrolet Camaro team," said Andy Lee. "It's nice to perform so well in Chevrolet's back yard. The Belle Isle venue is amazing and the fans in Detroit are the best! I couldn't be more proud of our team. I really need to thank Best IT and Crown7 for their support."
Lee won the pole for both races and led every lap, dominating the field of Pirelli World Challenge GTS cars. It was a strong showing of Chevrolet performance and talent from the racer hailing out of Colorado Springs, CO. He heads into the next event, coming up at Mosport Raceway June 22nd, leading in the driver championship standings by ten points.
The tight battle for manufactures points currently puts Chevrolet in second place, just four points behind Acura. There are five more races left in the season for driver and manufacture points to be earned. Chevrolet has not won a manufacturers championship in the series since 1994.
The Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will air on NBS Sports on Saturday, July 7th at 5p.m. Eastern Standard Time. To read the full event recap please visit http://www.world-challenge.com/news/story.php?story=2571.
