HealthPlus of Michigan Statement on Today's Supreme Court Health Care Reform Ruling
FLINT, Mich., June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the federal health care reform bill allows Michigan and its health plans to begin implementing the law's remaining segments. At HealthPlus, we've been preparing for, and carrying out, mandated health care reforms since 2010 and will continue to comply with the law as it relates to HealthPlus, its plans and its members.
To maintain secure and affordable coverage, HealthPlus believes it is essential to keep the link between market reforms and universal coverage to avoid cost increases, and limiting consumer and employer choices. And while HealthPlus supports expanded coverage, there is concern regarding a premium tax, which could raise costs and impact access.
Therefore, HealthPlus will continue working with policymakers on health care reform to make coverage affordable, competitive options available and quality care accessible. Our goal is to be a leader in delivery system reform while investing in improvement initiatives to ensure that consumers receive optimal value.
HealthPlus remains a stable, strong and growing health care benefits company providing important, high-quality health care benefits to its members while offering a variety of flexible options for individuals and families receiving coverage through the future exchange system and as a result of other health care reforms.
