TUCSON, Ariz., May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- About 300 area copper workers from the United Steelworkers (USW) will gather in front of the campaign headquarters of Congressman Raul Grijalva at 9:00 am to protest his continued blocking of progress on permits for development of the new Rosemont Copper Mine.

"Multiple permits are already approved at the open-pit location southeast of Tucson, but we have become frustrated with Congressman Grijalva's lack of response to the issue of good future jobs for our families in Pima County," declared Manuel Armenta, USW Sub-district Director.

"Copper jobs are needed in the local economy to supply the increased demand for hybrid cars, solar panels, wind turbines, transmission and distribution lines for America," he added." The USW is a strong supporter of the environmental permitting process because we live in these mining communities. If we stand still and do nothing, the jobs will not be available for Arizona."
