Novation Wins Practice Greenhealth's Champion for Change Award for Ninth Consecutive Year
Honored for Environmental Stewardship and Outstanding Efforts in Environmental Improvement
IRVING, Texas, May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Novation, the leading health care supply chain expertise and contracting company for the members of VHA Inc., UHC, and Provista LLC, today announced that it has received the Champion for Change Award for the ninth consecutive year. The award recognizes Novation for its leadership and commitment to environmentally responsible health care. Practice Greenhealth announced the winners at the 2012 Environmental Excellence Awards banquet on May 2 at CleanMed, the global conference of health care environmental leaders, in Denver, Colorado.
"We are honored to be recognized by Practice Greenhealth with this prestigious health care industry award for nine consecutive years," said Jody Hatcher, president and chief executive officer at Novation. "We firmly believe that efforts to reduce health care's environmental footprint can not only have a direct, positive effect on patient and caregiver safety, but also can help hospitals reduce their overall costs."
The Champion for Change Award recognizes businesses and organizations that demonstrate successful accomplishments in 'greening' their own organization and have assisted their associated health care facility clients/members/customers in improving their environmental performance.
"This Award demonstrates Novation's commitment to help the hospital members it serves protect public health and preserve the environment," said Laura Wenger, RN, Executive Director, Practice Greenhealth. "Novation is truly demonstrating leadership for the future of health care."
Among the presenters at this year's CleanMed conference, was Jennifer Waddell, RN, senior manager of clinical solutions at Novation. Waddell spoke about advancing environmentally preferred purchasing within the health care supply chain.
Novation has a strong track record of supporting sustainability initiatives. For example, in October 2011, Novation announced its support of Practice Greenhealth's Greening the Supply Chain™ Initiative and its Standardized Environmental Questions for Medical Products.
CleanMed is the premier environmental conference for leaders in health care. The conference attracts key decision-makers from across the health care supply chain. Practice Greenhealth is the nation's leading membership and networking organization for institutions in the health care community that have made a commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly practices. Members include hospitals, health care systems, businesses and other stakeholders engaged in the greening of health care to improve the health of patients, staff and the environment.
