Kids Discover NYC's Museum Mile In Chet The Architect Books
CHAPPAQUA, N.Y., May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Two new books, Chet the Architect: Learn to Draw New York City's Fifth Avenue Museum Mile and Chet the Architect Shows You New York City's Museum Mile, written and illustrated by Kathryn Koller, enhance New York City's Museum Mile experience by introducing kids to nine famous museums using simple architectural concepts and fun, interactive elements.
In the Chet the Architect books, a fictional character named Chet brings kids face-to-face with each building, from the brand-new Museum for African Art (set to open this fall) at Fifth Avenue and 110th Street, to the venerable Metropolitan Museum at Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street. With Chet the Architect: Learn to Draw, young readers can draw architectural shapes, color pen-and-ink outlines of each building, and draw their own version of each museum. This irresistible activity book with handy tear-out pages comes with drawing board and pen and will open kids' eyes to architectural styles and details and improve their drawing skills, all while having fun.
The handy, accordion-fold pocket edition guide, Chet the Architect Shows You New York City's Museum Mile, uses child-friendly text and colorful art to introduce each museum building with a snapshot overview and fact-boxes about architecture. Interesting features of each building are highlighted, such as the Museum of African Art's trapezoid windows and the Guggenheim Museum's lobby skylight. Watch out parents—with this book, kids may lead the family on their own tour of Museum Mile!
