Spectra Energy Selects 2012 Scholarship Recipients

 
 

Ten Students to Receive Up to $20,000 Toward Undergraduate Studies in United States or Canada

HOUSTON, May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectra Energy Corp (NY SE: SE) today announced ten children of company employees have been selected to receive up to $5,000 per year in scholarship funds toward undergraduate study at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.

As part of the Spectra Energy Scholars Program, scholarship recipients are chosen annually by an independent committee of judges and must be graduating high school/secondary school seniors. The committee selects applicants based on their performance in academics, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors and awards, work experience and financial need. The scholarships will provide the students up to $20,000 during their four years of undergraduate study.

Two additional students were recognized for their achievements and will each receive a one-time, $2,500 scholarship.

Jessieca Brock of Houston, TX—A student at Cypress Ridge High School and the legal dependent of Erika and Brian Young

Trevor Fry of Port Royal, PA—A student at Juniata High School and the son of Tim and Karen Fry

David Gossom II of Houston, TX—A student at Logos Preparatory Academy and the son of Judy and David Gossom

Simon Grottker of Iroquois Falls, ON—A student at Iroquois Falls Secondary School and the son of Steffen and Silke Grottker

Alexandra Kempa of Brantford, ON—A student at Assumption College School and the daughter of Greg and Jackie Kempa

Kylie Keyes of Sudbury, ON—A student at LaSalle Secondary School and the daughter of Ron and Holly Keyes
