Elster Innovations Meet Rising Global Demand for Natural Gas
-- Elster demonstrates newly launched products at the 25th World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur --
ESSEN, Germany, June 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Elster (NYSE: ELT) is participating in the prestigious 25th World Gas Conference (WGC2012) being held from June 4-8, 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. Organized by the International Gas Union (IGU), WGC2012 is themed Gas: Sustaining Future Global Growth.
Elster will be demonstrating metering innovations that provide integrated gas measurement and regulator solutions for both high and low pressure applications. These include the new EK280 volume converter, the new themis plus diaphragm gas meter, Q.Sonic ®plus ultrasonic flow meter, and RABO (Rotary All By One) rotary gas meter, as well as the recently introduced series of high pressure MR HP20 regulators.
With rising demand for natural gas and advanced meter reading (AMR) technology worldwide, Elster continues to support upstream, mid-stream and downstream applications across the value chain.
Elster's themis plus, is one of the world's first commercial and industrial diaphragm gas meters with integrated volume conversion that directly measures and displays the standard volume and sends this data to the utility using its integral GPRS modem.
Elster's Q.Sonic ®plus, a next generation ultrasonic flow meter developed in direct response to industry demand for higher performance and accuracy, will also be on display and features intelligent self-diagnostics to eliminate the need for extensive commissioning, installation and health checks.
Elster's new RABO (Rotary All By One) rotary gas meter meets virtually all market requirements, and reduces operating costs thanks to longer maintenance intervals and easy retrofitting with digital encoders.
"Today's natural gas industry demands reliable and advanced metering technologies for less overall measurement uncertainty," said Michael Calovini, executive vice president of Elster's international gas business.
"As a recognized global leader in gas metering, measurement and utilization, Elster's solutions are designed specifically to meet the industry demand for integrated systems with high reliability, performance and accuracy. We are delighted to be participating in WGC2012 as it provides a world stage for Elster to demonstrate our expertise in delivering integrated solutions that meet a wide and diverse range of applications from the wellhead to the burner tip," Calovini added.
According to the International Energy Agency's (IEA) World Energy Outlook 2011, global demand for energy will increase by one-third between 2010 and 2035, with demand for natural gas rising the most in absolute terms. Natural gas is forecast to be the only fossil fuel to increase its share in the global energy mix over this period.
WGC2012 will see more than 200 companies highlighting the latest technologies and developments in the gas industry and expects to welcome 5,000 industry professionals and 10,000 trade visitors to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Elster will be showcasing its solutions at stand 6460 in Hall 6.
