WHAT: District Council 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts announces the union's endorsement of City Council member Charles Barron highlighting his leadership and support of the union's budgetary and legislative priorities.

Barron is a committed advocate for the issues that matter to DC 37 and its members such as affordable housing, funding for CUNY, and the city's cultural institutions and libraries. He has also been an outspoken supporter of public education and the fight against mayoral control, co-location, school closings, charter schools and the fight for parental involvement. He has been a strong supporter of public health and the City's Health and Hospitals Corp. and the fight to end health disparities.

Barron has been a strong advocate for the preservation of the city's safety net, a fierce and vocal opponent of the closing of community day care centers, the privatization of other city services and the layoff of workers who provide them.
