Tempronics Launches Temperfect Chair Personal Cooling and Heating Solution

SILICON VALLEY, Calif., May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Tempronics, Inc. (Tempronics) today announced the cooled and heated Temperfect office chair. The user has complete control of the chair's temperature. The company embeds solid-state chips into the seat and back, each functioning as a tiny heat pump. Seven adjustments enable ergonomic positioning of the seat, back, recliner, and arm rests.

"In any given office, almost half of the workers are dissatisfied with the temperature," said Phil Williams, Vice President, Sustainability & Systems Engineering, Webcor Builders. "The Temperfect chair allows workers to have individual control of thermal comfort. The portable chair can move with the user or employer, in contrast with the fixed nature of customary HVAC systems."

The chair is priced comparably to high-end office chairs without this functionality, and quickly pays for itself by increasing productivity, eliminating the need for new thermostat installations, and reducing the HVAC load especially on weekends and off hours. The Temperfect chair also eliminates temperature disputes, provides relief for mild pain and thermal surges, allows for more choice in attire, increases employee retention, and negates variations due to lighting, electronic equipment, and afternoon sun.

"Our human-subject testing revealed that the Temperfect chair keeps the user thermally comfortable when the room is between 61 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit," said Professor Edward Arens, Director, Center for the Built Environment, University of California, Berkeley. "With these thermostat settings, the HVAC energy savings compared to normal operation will exceed 30%."

"Our Temperfect chair is a unique, clean-technology breakthrough," said Tarek Makansi, Ph.D., CEO, and CTO, Tempronics. "If a professional works 15 minutes longer each day, the chair pays for itself in three months. Every degree of thermostat adjustment typically reduces HVAC energy consumption by 10%. We currently use almost as much energy for HVAC as for all of transportation in the U.S. The Temperfect chair uses a safe, low voltage power supply and consumes less than 80 watts."
