Roswell Food Group To Celebrate Six Flags 45th Anniversary With Launch Of Jeff Foxworthy's Original Grit Chip!
ROSWELL, Ga., June 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- World-famous humorist and well-known local son Jeff Foxworthy returns to the site of his first after school job June 16, to help Six Flags over Georgia celebrate its 45th Birthday, and to announce the launch of his highly anticipated "Jeff Foxworthy's Original Grit Chips."
The chips, made from all-natural Southern grits, will be the presenting sponsor for the birthday celebration, and Jeff Foxworthy himself will be making a guest appearance at the afternoon ceremony to wish his former employer a "Happy Birthday," and to give a taste of his all new Grit Chips to those lucky park goers who attend the birthday bash.
The chips are the brain-child of the Roswell Food Group (www.roswellfoodgroup.com), who partnered with Foxworthy and his Foxworthy Outdoors company in November 2011 to produce and market the chips as a delicious new snack treat that brings people everywhere, a unique taste of the South. The Grit Chips, which made their debut at an Atlanta area watering hole – the Roswell Tap – this past fall, have drawn rave reviews from the restaurants customers, who have steadily grown anxious to buy them at retail.
"It's been a lot of fun watching people take that first bite," says Sean McDonough, CEO of the Roswell Food Group and Founder of the Roswell Tap (www.theroswelltap.com),"We could tell early on that this was a unique taste no one had ever tried before, and that we had to find a way to get them to people all over the world".
One person who didn't take long to buy in to that philosophy was Foxworthy, a guy who truly understandsSouthern flavor. After a chance meeting with McDonough, during which the Pittsburgh native told Foxworthy his restaurant, served a "grit chip," Foxworthy became intrigued. After his first taste, he asked McDonough for a larger sampling, and then another. Soon the seeds of a really great idea took root, and Foxworthy and the Food Group were in business.
"Believe me, I'd seen my share of big ideas," Foxworthy said. "And after I appeared on Shark Tank, people would approach me with every kind of idea you can imagine. Some were good, but oddly enough, here was this guy from Pittsburgh telling me all about a Southern grit chip, and to me, that sounded like one of the best ideas I had ever had thrown at me." So, Foxworthy and the Roswell Food Group took the plunge, and, as they say in the snack food industry, the rest is "delicious history!"
The grit chips will be hitting grocery and club stores soon are the Roswell Food Group's first effort, and the company is expected to roll out a whole line of great food products that reflect Foxworthy's penchant for fun, the great outdoors, and good times enjoyed by family and friends.
