NFL Alumni and MetLife Team Up to Reveal Snoopy Statue and New Fan Tradition

 
 

MetLife Brings Football to Streets of New York Declaring "New York Football Starts Now!"

NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

 

WHAT:       

MetLife street teams will engage fans in "Random Acts of Football" events celebrating the start of football season – the pre-season exhibition game between the New York Giants and the New York Jets in the MetLife Bowl. 

 
  • Football in the City - Live action shots and visuals of spontaneous pick-up football games with commuters in key locations throughout New York City, including Union Square, Penn Station, and Times Square.
  • Goodies Galore - Free MetLife Stadium and team gear giveaways.



The "New York Football Starts Now!" celebration culminates at 12:00 PM when MetLife, together with the New York Giants and New York Jets, unveils a unique New York area football symbol of good luck - an eight foot statue of Snoopy dedicated to all New York and New Jersey football fans.

 
  • NFL Alumni & MetLife Engagement - Participating in the ceremony will be former Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer, former Jets quarterback Vinny Testaverde, and MetLife Chief Marketing Officer Beth Hirschhorn.

  • An Inimitable Landmark - The Snoopy statue (bronze, in football gear, running) will become a permanent fixture at the West Gate of MetLife Stadium and will also symbolize the completion of the West Gate entrance.

  • A New Tradition is Born - A great visual, the Snoopy statue is a symbol of good luck for the home team and their fans, who can "high five" Snoopy as they enter the Stadium.

  • Exclusive Fan Experiences - Prior to the event, fans can participate in "warm up" activities, join the New York Jets Flight Crew to celebrate the start of football season and receive MetLife Stadium gear.
