National Senior Games Association Announces Extension Of Humana Sponsorship
Renewed Partnership Strengthens Focus on Both Groups' Health and Wellness Missions
BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- National Senior Games Association, the governing organization for the largest multi-sport event in the world for adults over age 50, announced a new sponsorship agreement with Humana, one of the nation's leading health care companies. The six-year agreement designates Humana as the Official Presenting Sponsor at the Summer National Senior Games starting in 2013 and significantly expands the existing relationship with additional activities.
The partnership extension comes as NSGA is sharpening its focus as a mission-driven organization under the guidance of new CEO Mike Sophia, appointed in January 2012. To further their mission, NSGA is committed to promoting senior health and wellness by providing better resources to its members and building partnerships with companies like Humana that align with this mission.
"NSGA is proud to call Humana a partner as we enhance our efforts to promote senior health and wellness across America," Sophia said. "At the 2013 National Senior Games and beyond, Humana will offer thoughtful and exciting initiatives that will help provide our members with resources and tools to lead healthier lives."
Starting with the Cleveland Senior Walk on July 27, 2012, Humana's Well-being Tour will be integrated into NSGA events, offering NSGA athletes and participants interactive tools that provide a fresh perspective on healthy living. Humana Well-being Tour offerings include biometric screening stations with personalized results, hydration stations with stationary bike activities and an Xbox Kinect station featuring the "Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012" interactive game.
"We're delighted to extend Humana's relationship with the National Senior Games," said Alan Wheatley, President of Humana's Medicare organization. "As we work across Humana to help people achieve lifelong well-being, it makes perfect sense for us to align with an organization like NSGA. The more we can encourage people to stay active and have fun in the process, the better."
Humana's close relationship with NSGA dates back to 2006 when Humana signed on as Official Presenting Sponsor for the Summer National Senior Games in Louisville, Ky. in 2007; Palo Alto, Calif. in 2009; and Houston in 2011.
Within the sponsorship Humana is afforded premium visibility at the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland, as well as upcoming National Games in 2015 and 2017. At the state level, Humana will also have a presence at designated NSGA State Games, which includes branding and on-site event planning opportunities.
