DataStax Strengthens Management Team With Appointment of Martin Van Ryswyk as Vice President of Engineering
Industry Veteran to Lead Product Development for Commercial Apache Cassandra and NoSQL Leader
SAN MATEO, Calif., June 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- DataStax, the commercial leader in Apache Cassandra, today announced the addition of Martin Van Ryswyk as vice president of engineering. Van Ryswyk brings more than 22 years of experience in software development, system engineering, and program management to his new role, including more than a decade of experience in the design and implementation of enterprise-class software and services.
As vice president of engineering, he is responsible for all aspects of product development, and ensuring DataStax continues to lead the big data industry when it comes to the innovative use of Apache Cassandra. He joins DataStax from Electric Cloud, Inc., where he oversaw engineering and was responsible for developing the company's DevOps automation solutions. Previously he spent almost five years as a senior director of software engineering at EMC, where he ran multiple software teams, including the Legato engineering group. Prior to that he was vice president of engineering at Luminate, which was acquired by EMC. He has also held software development management positions at Tidal Software, Operations Control Systems, and Beatrice Hunt-Wesson. Martin graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in computer science.
