Takata Adds Ford Top-Performing Supplier Award to Recent Global Industry Accolades

Ford Most Recent Customer to Recognize Takata's First-Class Global Operations

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Takata Corporation, the world's leading automotive safety supplier, was recently given Ford Motor Company's prestigious "Gold" World of Excellence Award for Automotive Electronics Excellence: Shanghai, China – Restraints Electronics.  Takata was one of just 12 suppliers to achieve the "Gold" distinction, the highest level achievable, for demonstrating superior quality, delivery and cost performance.

Ford president and CEO Alan Mulally thanked all of Ford's suppliers for continuing to embrace the ONE Ford mindset while Tony Brown, Ford's group vice president, Global Purchasing, recognized the hard work and dedication of all its suppliers.  "In 2011, our suppliers stepped up to the challenge of building vehicles that improve commonality and efficiency in more ways than ever before, and we are grateful for their unwavering commitment," said Brown.

The recent Ford award recognizing Takata's excellence in global operations comes on the heels of the worldwide safety leader also being named General Motors Global Supplier of the Year for 2011.  This is the second year in a row Takata received the GM award, and the company was the only safety supplier globally to be recognized at such a prestigious level.  These two recent major acknowledgements from two of the "big three" are just a couple examples of Takata's increasing laser-focus on customer service and satisfaction worldwide.

"We see each of our customers and their challenges as our own, and as the global economic structure continues to expand and evolve, we are intent on working even closer as partners with all of our customers around the world," said Robert Fisher, Executive Vice President, Takata Corporation.  "Receiving both the Ford and GM awards tells us we are moving in the right directions, and that helps improve automotive safety worldwide.  Whether it is here in Detroit, in Tokyo, or Shanghai, our mission continues to be always moving closer to a day of zero fatalities due to automotive accidents."
