Rebuilding Together and KI Announce Dedication for New Green Bay Veteran's Home
Sears Heroes at Home Volunteers to Help Complete Volunteer Work at the Home
WASHINGTON, May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rebuilding Together and the Rebuilding Together Green Bay affiliate will host a Heroes at Home project, today, May 1 in Green Bay as part of their veterans housing program. The rebuild coincides with the start of Sears' fifth annual Heroes at Home campaign, supporting Rebuilding Together, which aims to improve military families' lives by making necessary repairs, improvements or modifications to their homes.
Rebuilding Together Greater Green Bay and local Sears volunteers will complete renovations on a home that was donated by KI and KI CEO Dick Resch. The KI Hope House will serve as a place for a returning military service member and his or her family.
The home has received extensive renovations to ensure that it is a safe and healthy home for veterans in-need. Renovations include: new windows, electrical and plumbing upgrades, a new roof, and other critical upgrades to bring the home to a healthy standard of living.
"KI proudly supports our nation's military and remains committed to extending every opportunity we can as employers to make sure these heroes have a home when they return from deployment," said Dick Resch, CEO, KI. "The KI Hope House will provide a warm, welcoming and safe transitional living space to a service member who works to successfully move forward within our community."
The Heroes at Home campaign is rooted in Rebuilding Together and Sears' service to the nation's veterans and American military families.
"Sears has continually dedicated their resources and corporate philanthropy to our nation's servicemen and women," said Gary A. Officer, president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. "As we enter into our fifth spring campaign, we continue to further develop our relationship with the nation's veterans, in order to to assist those in-need with incredible and life-saving renovations and services."
To date, Sears Holdings has raised nearly $16 million for Heroes at Home through a nationwide in-store fund-raising campaign. This is one of the hundreds of projects made possible by these donations. Rebuilding Together has completed more than 1,100 projects for veteran homeowners across America. The success of this program is only expected to rise as more projects are completed. Customers can donate to the Heroes at Home Campaign from April 29 to July 28, 2012 at any Sears stores or online at via a link at Sears.com/heroesathome (100 percent of donations go toward Rebuilding Together).
