This unprecedented memory foam study sought to better understand consumer spending and sentiments in the growing memory foam bedding category. The study insights suggest that memory foam has tremendous growth ahead as a comfort solution.
The latest research, conducted during January 2012 and comprised of 3,939 U.S. representative respondents, measured consumer attitudes and behaviors toward memory foam bedding. The research results unlocked valuable information that retailers can use to improve product messaging, merchandising, strategy, and vendor selections. The results were compared across three categories: current owners, lapsed owners, and non-owners of memory foam pillow, toppers, and mattresses.

The study surveyed owners and non-owners to understand why people both purchase and pass up memory foam. Overwhelmingly, the study found that consumers are happy with their memory foam purchases, with 79% of mattress topper owners indicating they are very to extremely satisfied with the product.
