Lexington Company Comes To America Waving Its Stars And Stripes
Europe's Leading Purveyor of American Style Lands Stateside
NEW YORK, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lexington Company, a Stockholm-based lifestyle brand with $80 million in annual sales, opens its first store in the U.S. today, at 73 Main Street in East Hampton, New York. Widely known in Europe for its American-inspired home decor and fashion, the retailer debuts its Hamptons location showcasing all categories of the lifestyle brand including Lexington Home, men's and women's clothing and accessories. Lexington Company has also established an e-commerce site for the United States, www.lexingtoncompany.com. Two more US locations are planned in the coming year.
Founded in 1997 by husband and wife team Tommy and Kristina Lindhe, the company is named for the town where the American Revolutionary War began. The store is a total immersion in CEO and Creative Director Kristina Lindhe's vision, which centers on American history, New England style and traditional craftsmanship. Lindhe notes that East Hampton has long inspired Lexington Company's collection, commenting "the culture and style in East Hampton is relaxed, sophisticated and elegant, with houses and beaches that have been here for years. After gaining a positive response in Europe, we saw a niche for our relaxed luxury brand in America, and are thrilled to have finally found a home here."
Decorated with found items and seaside discoveries, the store evokes classic New England cottages. Whitewashed cedar walls set the stage while gently weathered galley tables are curated with china and hostess gifts, vintage cupboards are artfully stocked with bathing suits and towels, and a captain's bed is transformed with signature sheets and blankets. Prices range from $35 - $400 for bedding; $9 - $125 for home and tabletop; $89 - $395 for women's and men's clothing, and $39 - $275 for accessories. To celebrate the debut, and just in time for Independence Day, Lexington Company launches the Stars and Stripes Collection. Lindhe's re-imagination of the American flag emphasizes the brand's love of American heritage. Standout items include mix and match stars and stripes bikinis, cotton gauze star scarves, oversized beach towels and plush picnic blankets.
Lexington Company has grown from a small shop in Stockholm to an international lifestyle brand with twenty-six freestanding stores in five countries. It is sold at over 900 stores in more than twenty countries on four continents, including Harrods and Selfridges in London and Galeries Lafayette in Paris.
