Big Brothers Big Sisters International Announces Relocation to North Texas
Charles Pierson Named Chief Executive Officer
IRVING, Texas, Oct. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Big Brothers Big Sisters International (BBBSI) Chairman of the Board, Beverly Benz Treuille, announced today that the organization has moved its world headquarters from Philadelphia, PA to Irving, TX in a strategic move to aggressively pursue expansion plans around the globe and better support its worldwide affiliates. As part of this move, she also announced that Charles Pierson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, will add the role of CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters International to his current local duties. BBBSI President Katherine (Kitty) Balsley who formerly served as the organization's CEO will now assume the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer in addition to continuing to serve as President.
"Relocation to the Dallas/Fort Worth region of Texas makes good business sense. The large concentration of corporate headquarters, the ease of access to international destinations through DFW International Airport, the exceptional Big Brothers Big Sisters facilities and the proximity to the nation's largest and most successfully run Big Brothers Big Sisters agency all proved relevant in our decision to move to North Texas," stated Benz Treuille. "Additionally, Charles Pierson has the demonstrated leadership, record of accomplishments and fine character to lead our international expansion. This move will benefit our global Affiliates for years to come."
Helping BBBSI with its move, relocation and ongoing expansion efforts are the corporate partners of American Airlines, Hunt Consolidated, World Ventures and other private donors.
"The time is right for global expansion," said Kitty Balsley. "With this move and additional resources, International is poised for tremendous growth. Charles and I have known and respected one another for many years, and it is exciting to now have the opportunity to work together in this significant way."
"I am honored to be leading such a diverse and impactful organization across so many cultures," stated Pierson. "The power of the Big Brothers Big Sisters proven brand of one-to-one mentoring is something that rises above geographic and cultural boundaries. Through the friendship of safe and positive role models, children from all walks of life will experience the positive impact that mentoring can have in changing their futures."
Charles Pierson has been President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star since 2003. During that time, the local agency has increased the number of children served by 274% and annual revenues by 292%.
Benz Treuille also announced the addition of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Austria as one of BBBSI's newest areas of expansion. Currently, BBBSI is in discussions regarding expansion to Mexico, Japan, Brazil and other nations.
BBBSI was founded in 1998 by directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and currently has Affiliates in 13 countries.
