SAN ANTONIO, May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Sunday May 6, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) recognized Sgt. Maj. Kent C. Dolasky, a true pioneer, as the 2012 Alumni of Distinction for Service in Mission at the Fall undergraduate commencement ceremony.

In 2001, Dolasky enrolled in UIW through the Army's new eArmy U program. The program featured a consortium of 29 schools known for quality online programs to serve the needs of soldiers with difficulties continuing their studies with extensive military duties and relocation. He became UIW's first eArmyU graduate in 2002.

He pursued his graduate degree through UIW's online program accomplishing many courses while deployed in the Middle East. In 2006, he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat and earned an MBA.

Dolasky is currently an Army Special Forces Sergeant Major and the Commandant of the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy in Tampa, Fla.

Dolasky founded the volunteer organization "Buckets of Hope" after observing a homeless man with little protection from the cold. In 2010, he delivered his first bucket of hope filled with winter survival items to the needy in the Tampa area.

Dolasky is a member of UIW's extended academics program curriculum committee and an instructor. He designed and launched a Bachelor of Science in business administration capstone course called Business Policy and Strategy.
