"The Art of Japanese Beauty" to celebrate the art of Geisha makeup, dance and music, and food and shochu
NEW YORK, April 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- J-COLLABO, creator of some of the most innovative projects introducing Japanese culture, is proud to announce its new public event, an evening of demonstrations, performances, exhibitions and tastings with artists, performers and professionals all exploring the topic of Japanese beauty.
"The Art of Japanese Beauty: Past, Present and Future" will feature a presentation and discussion of ancient Japanese makeup and beauty techniques by a Kaoshi, master of Japanese makeup and beauty craft from Kyoto traditionally dedicated to the service of Kabuki actors and Geisha. The event will also include performances of modern dance set to traditional Japanese Koto music, food and shochu tastings, and an exhibition of antique Japanese beauty implements and authentic ceremonial Kimonos.
Japanese beauty and adornment has long been a topic of great fascination in the west. From the exotic allure of Kabuki performers and Geisha, to the more current pursuit of high-end Japanese beauty treatments and cosmetics, Japanese beauty rituals continue to be a valuable dialog between the cultures of the U.S. and Japan.
Hitoshi Sagaseki, Founder and President of J-COLLABO, says, "This is our premier event as a newly formed non-profit, and we are excited to have this opportunity to cast a new light to the old, meet new friends, and start new dialogs."
