Anke Giesen and Michael Müller Appointed to Fraport's Executive Board
FRANKFURT, Germany, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The supervisory board of Fraport AG today appointed Michael Müller, age 54, as the company's new executive board member for labor relations. He succeeds Herbert Mai who has reached retirement age and ends his contract on September 30, 2012. Müller will have board responsibility for Human Resources, the Airport Security Management strategic business unit as well as the Central Purchasing unit. The supervisory board has also appointed Anke Giesen to the Fraport executive board as a new fifth member. The 48-year old Giesen will be responsible for the Retail and Properties and the Ground Services strategic business units. In addition, she will oversee management development activities for the Group.
Commenting on the selection of the new executive board members, Fraport AG's supervisory board chairman Karlheinz Weimar said: "Over the years, Fraport AG has continuously expanded its business activities - from classic flight operations to ground handling services to retail and real estate. We will continue growing our very successful international business, which now accounts for about one third of our Group operating result (EBITDA)." Because of the market opportunities and the numerous challenges facing Fraport, it is necessary to increase the executive board to five members.
"I am pleased that, with Anke Giesen and Michael Müller, we have won two outstanding management personalities who offer excellent expertise and wide-ranging experience. Ms. Giesen's career spans key personnel areas and includes a strong strategic business orientation - serving with the management team of Pfleiderer for the new reorientation of its West European business segment as well as the integration of new plants in Canada and the U.S.A.; and currently as executive board member of Douglas Holding in the retail and real estate sector. Mr. Müller - as a Fraport insider - knows the company inside out and from top to bottom. Müller's roots are in our region and he possesses tremendous experience in cooperating with works councils and unions," said Weimar.
Anke Giesen has extensive management experience. After obtaining a degree in law, she started her career as a specialist in human resources and management personnel at Mannesmann Dematic AG. In 2001, she transferred to Pfleiderer AG where she held several management positions. From 2004, she served as the Group's head of human resources and as member of the management board for Pfleiderer's Business Center Western Europe. In 2009, she joined Douglas Holding AG as member of the executive board.
A graduate economist, Michael Müller joined the Frankurt Airport operating company in 1984. He held various management positions in human resources and became head of the Human Resources central unit in 1997. Since 2009, he has been executive vice president of Fraport AG's Ground Services strategic business unit.
