Piedmont Airlines and Communications Workers of America Reach Tentative Agreement
TEMPE, Ariz., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Piedmont Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US Airways (NYSE: LCC), today announced that it has reached a tentative agreement on a new, four and a half year collective bargaining agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the representative of the airline's more than 3,000 fleet and passenger service employees. Details of the agreement will be made available by the CWA.
"We are very pleased that Piedmont and the Communications Workers of America, with the assistance of the National Mediation Board, have reached a tentative agreement on a contract for our fleet and passenger service employees," said Steve Farrow, Piedmont Airlines president and CEO. "We thank the CWA leadership for their dedication in representing more than 3,000 Piedmont employees and we thank Mediator Michael Kelliher of the National Mediation Board for his support in reaching this tentative agreement."
The CWA will be presenting the details of the tentative agreement to its members for consideration with an endorsement for ratification, which is expected to take place in July. Once ratified, the new agreement will extend through January, 2017.
