Franchise Expands to Denver, Plans to Renovate Space in Historic St. Elmo Hotel for Mid-October 2012 Opening
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern Hospitality Franchisee Holding Corporation today announced plans to open its flagship Denver franchise store in the historic St. Elmo Hotel in mid-October. Southern Hospitality Franchisee Holding Corporation will begin renovations to the hotel in May, decorating with reclaimed hardwood lumber decor and iron signage.
Southern Hospitality was originally conceived by Eytan Sugarman, who co-conceptualized the Memphis-style barbecue restaurant and bar with good friends Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala. The original outpost, which opened in 2007 at 1460 Second Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side, as well as its 2011 Hell's Kitchen successor at 645 9th Avenue, are both models for the 30-store franchise roll out agenda. Originally built in 1896 to accommodate train-travelers, the historic St. Elmo Hotel will provide the new Southern Hospitality location with a high-traffic and effortlessly cool vibe as well as a sophisticated, turn-of-the-century American Industrial feel.
"After visiting the Southern Hospitality's Hell's Kitchen location in New York City, I was immediately enamored with the atmosphere, the great-tasting food and its professional staff that defines hospitality and overall vibe of the restaurant," said Mike Plante, St. Elmo Hotel landlord. "I am thrilled to lease the historic St. Elmo to Southern Hospitality. The building's architectural structure aligns with Southern Hospitality's mission to bring a modern, yet industrial feel to the restaurant. The interior of the historic hotel, with a few slight renovations, will provide a sophisticated and unique vibe to future customers."
"The historic St. Elmo Hotel is the perfect location for Southern Hospitality BBQ," said Ryan Tedder, Colorado native and part owner of Southern Hospitality Franchisee Holding Corporation. "I'm looking forward to seeing Southern Hospitality make its way West—and I'm happy there will finally be a location in Denver, my own backyard."
Southern Hospitality Franchisee Holding Corporation's franchise will feature traditional southern favorites and barbecue recipes with an emphasis on great-tasting foods and an expansive bourbon selection. A wide range of health-conscious choices will be available, along with regional fare developed by Master Chef Vic Matthews, whose culinary career spans three decades and includes service at numerous four and five-star restaurants, multiple new venture launches and as the CEO, dean and owner of the Paragon Culinary School five-star level training facility.
Matthews is joined by Gerard Lewis, a seasoned restaurant executive and culinary mastermind responsible for several innovations in the restaurant industry. His experience includes work with Mike Ditka's Iron Mike's upscale steakhouse franchise, Stevens and Stevens trendy New York deli, and casual upscale venues Atria's Restaurants and Juniper Grill. Lewis' 30-year career has also included award-winning product developments at Wendy's International and Boston Market Corporation, among many others.
