PFIR Launches TV Commercial on MSNBC
WASHINGTON, June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Progressives for Immigration Reform (PFIR) will launch a new national advertising campaign titled "Those Jobs" Americans Will Do. The campaign refutes the oft-used refrain that immigrants take jobs Americans won't do. The campaign calls attention to the significant impact that large-scale immigration has on certain sectors of the work force, including construction and housekeeping. Additionally, the ad calls for citizens and political leaders to take a critical look at the current failed immigration policy and instead, enact reforms that bolster American workers.
"Today, nearly 22 million Americans are either out of work or underemployed," said Leah Durant, Executive Director of Progressives for Immigration Reform. "With record high unemployment, the last thing America needs is policies that bring in even more foreign workers, swamping U.S. labor markets with cheap labor. What Americans need are policies that increase job opportunities."
The campaign includes 30-second TV spots that focus on:
- the impact of high immigration levels on American workers;
- the incorrect assumption that immigrant workers do not displace American workers;
- the failed immigration policies of both political parties; and
- the need for reform that promotes American workers.
The ad concludes with a call to action, asking viewers to tell their Congressman to "reduce mass immigration until all Americans are back to work." The ad can be found by visiting PFIR's WEBSITE.
Progressives for Immigration Reform is a non-profit organization seeking to educate the public on the unintended consequences of large-scale immigration through research, advocacy, and engagement. PFIR favors immigration policies that consider the effects of immigration on the environment, population size and growth, and the working conditions of both immigrants and native-born workers.
